Drinking Water and Sanitation(WASH):

Drinking water security and effective sanitation facilities are the foundation of villages. Creating infrastructure for providing safe drinking water such as installation of hand pumps, renovation of dug wells, revival of traditional water harvesting structures are being one of the key intervention activities to achieve water security. In view of Swachh Bharat Mission, GoI, Arpan has been created commendable impact in this area by creating innovative solution through involvement of the local stakeholders and constructed the sanitation facilities in the project villages. Result of these interventions 33 villages are now practically ODF.

Awareness generation for judicious use and access to Safe Drinking water. Preparing and facilitating drinking water security plans for rural community. Rooftop water harvesting in schools.

Awareness and community triggering on sanitation, Community led sustainable sanitation by promoting ODF plus and ODF-sustainability with Solid Liquid Waste Management. Construction of toilets for individuals and in schools. Following are several achievements in the sector:

Water Awareness Activities for Community involvement at Grass root level –

In order to enable the village community and PRIs to play their rightful role, bridge their knowledge and information gaps in both thematic and programmatic on various aspects of drinking water and create enabling environment, water awareness activities like Jal Chetna Rath, Grameen Jal Mela, Participatory Rural Appraisal has been conducted at grass root level in 8761 Gram Panchayats of 6 regions of Rajasthan State under NRDWP has been conducted.

In Madhya Pradesh, Arpan has conducted these activities in 333 villages with the support of PHED and MP Jal Nigam.

Water Supply with ensured community participation

To ensure Sustainability of Water Supply Project, Information, Health Education & Communication (IEC) Activities on Task Basis, involving Community Participations through formation of Village Water & Health Committee (VWHC), Women Group (WG) etc., providing information regarding existing/proposed Water Supply Arrangements with Village Map for all Main/Other Habitations & other related works has been conducted for 283 villages under Narmada Based FR Cluster Water Supply Project, Sanchore District Jalore and for 160 villages under Narmada Based DR Cluster Water Supply Project, Sanchore District Jalore.

In Madhya Pradesh, Arpan has conducted these activities in 166 villages of 5 districts with the support of PHED and MP Jal Nigam.

Drinking Water Security

Prepared Drinking water security plans for 3035 villages of 12 districts in Rajasthan under National Rural Drinking Water Programme (NRDWP). Facilitated drinking water security to more than 30000 families in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. Conducted IEC activities under NRDWP in 8000+ gram panchayats of Rajasthan in 29 districts.

Sanitation Awareness & Community Triggering

Conducted comprehensive awareness generation programs and community triggering for sanitation in 33 villages with more than 3000 families by following Community Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) process and successfully converted in to Community Led Sustainable Solutions (CLSS) with the CSR support of Larsen & Toubro :

Toilet Construction

Facilitate construction of Toilet with Bathroom with 1353 families in 33 villages of 2 Gram Panchayats of Bhim block in Rajsamand district of Rajasthan with the support of Larsen & Toubro under CSR. Both the Gram Panchayats- Kookra and Lasadiya declared as ODF in year 2018. Apart from that Organisation also facilitate construction of toilets for girls and boys in 19 schools. Constructed 214 school toilets in Udaipur, Chittorgarh, Rajasmand and Ajmer districts with the support of Hindustan Zinc Limited.
